archeoastronomy to the discussion of how ancient cultures might guide
humanity toward a more fulfilling future.
This fascinating and
fun workshop will include an overview talk on topics raised
in his remarkable books, BEHIND THE CRYSTAL BALL.
and CONVERSING
WITH THE PLANETS. Discussions on Ancient Mexico
& Peru having to do
with Archaeoastronomy
will follow. There will be a dazzling of slide presentation
as well as ample time
for audience participation.

MORNING (9:30 to 12:45 with 15 min. break): MAGIC --
The origins of
modern beliefs and practices with special emphasis on how Mesoamerican
belief in the 'supernatural' actually fosters science--quite the
opposite of what happens in our society today. Dr.
Aveni will also explore the
MYSTERY OF THE NASCA LINES -- Listening to what the natives actually
say
in order to understand ancient cultures.
LUNCH: 12:45 to 2
AFTERNOON (2 to 5:30 with 30 min. break): Dr. Aveni will tell
the sad story
of the parting of the ways between astronomy and astrology. He
will explore
a variety of ideas which cultures and societies previous held as truths.
The day will also be filled with an intriguing and insightful slide
presentation to stimulate lively discussion and thought-provoking
audience participation.
